Lazio ultras on Thursday night
unfurled a banner outside the Olimpico ahead of their 1-0 win
over Monza voicing support for embattled Qatari World Cup
'ambassador' and former footballer Khalid Salman's view that
homosexuality is a mental illness and gays should stay away from
the tournament in the Middle Eastern country.
The banner, which was not subsequently displayed inside the
stadium, read "Khalid Salman, the Lazio ultras are with you!".
Italy's sporting judge said Friday he was investigating fresh
anti-semitic chants by the ultras during the Monza game after
similar ones at the recent Rome derby, which Lazio won 1-0.
