AC Milan got off to a winning start
in their Serie A title defence by beating Udinese 4-1 at the San
Siro Saturday.
Theo Hernandez opened the scoring with an 11th minute penalty,
which was followed by a brace for Ante Rebic and a goal by
Brahim Diaz.
Last year's runners up Inter won at Lecce thanks to a second
minute effort by Romelu Lukaku, who recently returned from
Chelsea, and an injury time winner by Denzel Dumfries.
Napoli, who came third last term. sit astride the table on goal
difference thanks to a 5-2 drubbing of Hellas Verona at the
Bentegodi.
Their goals came from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Victor Osimhen,
Piotr Zielinski, Stanislas Lobotoka and Matteo Politano.
Juventus, who just pipped Lazio and AS Roma to fourth place last
season, are currently second on goal difference thanks to a 3-0
win over Sassuolo at the Allianz Stadium.
New signing from PSG Angel Di Maria opned the scoring in the
26th minute and last year's signing from Fiorentina Dusan
Vlahovic bagged a couple in the 43rd (penalty) and 51st minutes.
Last year's fifth-ranked side Lazio beat Bologna 2-1 at the
Olimpico thanks to a 79th minute winner by long-time top scorer
Ciro Immobile.
Roma won 1-0 at Slarenitana thanks to a goal from Bryan
Cristante.
