Italian Soccer Federation
(FIGC) President Carlo Tavecchio said Thursday that he wants
promotion to Serie A to no longer be dictated solely by results
on the field.
Tavecchio said he envisions a reform that would see clubs
get a rating taking account of several factors in their sporting
and financial health.
"If you have a stadium, managers, a youth sector, the
ability to get credit, turnover, the ability to go on the market
and a lighting system, you can play in Serie A," Tavecchio said.
"Otherwise, you play in another division".
Serie B President Andrea Abodi said that, if the reforms
were in place now, Crotone would not have been admitted to the
Italian top flight this season.
The Calabrian side have been playing their home games in
Pescara so far this term due to problems with renovation work at
their own ground.
This weekend Crotone, who are in Serie A for the first
time, will play their first game at their Scida Stadium, against
Napoli next weekend, after winning a special dispensation from
the league.
