Economy Minister Pier Carlo
Padoan said Wednesday that "at things are at the moment, there
has been no cancellation" of Rome's bid to host the 2024
Olympics. Rome's new Mayor Virginia Raggi said before being
elected last month that she was against the capital hosting the
Games and has since confirmed they are not a priority, while
saying a final decision will be made later in the year. "The bid
project started over a year ago," Padoan told a question time
session in the Lower House.
