The Omicron variant of COVID-19
accounted for 100% of Italy's reported cases of the coronavirus
on May 3, with the BA.2 sub-variant dominant, according to a
flash survey by the Higher Health Institute (ISS) and the health
ministry together with regional laboratories and the Fondazione
Bruno Kessler.
Cases of BA.4 and BA.5 were also detected, the report said.
