The fourth wave of the COVID pandemic
has reached its peak and prevention measures could be eased,
Health Undersecretary Pierpaolo Sileri said Tuesday.
"Omicron is racing faster but it is less severe in the
vaccinated population," he told Rai Radio1.
"We appear to have reached the peak and shortly we will see a
decrease in cases, which will enable us to review measures".
Sileri said measures taken to curb contagion risks must not be
seen as "something fixed and infinite, but changeable according
to the situation the virus puts us in".
He said "therefore all the rules which we are putting in place.
in a relatively short space of time, may be modified again to
ease the pressure".
