After the organizational and crowd-drawing success of the top stage of the Giro d'Italia, on June 1, Feltre will once again be, for a day, the capital of cycling. On Friday 12 July, in fact, 500 amateur cyclists will arrive in Largo Castaldi - coming from 16 countries including Germania, Netherlands, United States, and Canada - as protagonists of the 2019 edition of the "Tour de Friends", the long-distance stage race that combines sport and the discovery of the local area. After the first two editions along the cycle route from Munich to Venice, this year the organising company, Germany, Rad Race Gmbh, decided to choose as scene of the two-wheeled adventure the Via Claudia Augusta. The protagonists will leave Augusta (Germany) on 7 July and after five stages will reach Feltre on the afternoon of Friday 12, welcomed by the market of local producers and the open-air restaurant set up in piazza Isola by the Quartiere Duomo. "It is a unique opportunity to promote our area," said the president of the Consorzio Dolomiti Prealpi, Lionello Gorza - "in particular as regards the offering in the sector of bike tourism. The participants in the Tour de Friends are true fans of bike-hiking, tourists willing to return to visit, with more time, an area that will give them the best welcome possible". The Consorzio Dolomiti Prealpi thought of a dedicated brochure, in English, to welcome the protagonists of the race. "It presents our beauties in a pleasant and comprehensive way" - stresses Gorza - with some ideas on what to do and what to visit. It doesn't happen every day to have at one fell swoop guests from 16 countries of the world, the best opportunity to invest in ourselves and our particular strengths and traits."
