Writer Antonio Scurati should be able
to freely express his thinking, Justice Minister Gennaro
Sangiuliano said Tuesday after Rai state broadcaster stopped the
Fascism expert from performing a scheduled Liberation Day
monologue Sunday claiming Premier Giorgia Meloni's Brothers of
Italy (FdI) party had not repudiated its "neo-Fascist" roots.
Former Rai second channel news chief Sangiuliano said: "Scurati?
With a quip I might say that it was Sangiuliano who left him
freely deliver his the first monologue."
Asked if he would have liked to her the monologue on TV,
Sangiuliano said "absolutely yes!. Scurati must be able to
freely express his thinking.
"When I was editor of Tg2 we did no fewer than three interviews
with Scurati. I don't think that any TV news editor, not even at
(left-leaning) Tg3, ever gave Scurati such space"
