Italy's vocation is to work for
cohesion among nations, President Sergio Mattarella said
Wednesday.
He told the chiefs of staff of the air force that "you
contribute to the defence of the democratic State and the rules
of the international community that are essential for peaceful
progress and for the cohesion between nations that we hope to
restore as the Italian republic, that is the vocation that we
have always cultivated.
"It is a commitment made still more stringent by the
international instability sparked by the invasion of Ukraine and
the violence in the Middle East triggered by Hamas's cruel
terrorist attack and the many civilian victims and also with the
grave actions against the freedom of shipping in the Red Sea".
