The Lombardy regional school office
said Wednesday a decision by a school near Milan with 40% of
Muslim students to close on the last day of Ramadan April 10 was
irregular and urged it to rethink the move.
The office found certain 'irregularities' in the resolution with
which the School Board of the Iqbal Masih Comprehensive
Institute in Pioltello decided to close the school for the end
of the holy Mulsim month of fasting.
For this reason it asked the school headmaster to "evaluate not
applying the resolution and the possibility of its annulment".
The head teacher who decided the move has had death threats from
rightwingers on the Web.
