The head of the European Stability
Mechanism (ESM) said Monday he was in constant contact with
Italy to get it to end its refusal to approve the reformed
eurozone bailout fund, the only EU country not to do so.
"I am collaborating and staying in contact with all countries to
understand and see how the situation in Italy will evolve" after
the non-ratification of the MES reform, said ESM Director Pierre
Gramegna during a press conference at the end of the Eurogroup.
"The only thing I can tell you is that for constitutional
reasons the Italian Parliament cannot discuss the issue again
within the six-month deadline since the December decision. We
are still talking with Italy to see how we can find a solution."
