Centre-left Democratic Party (PD)
leader said Tuesday that the PD-5-Star Movement (M5S) victory in
the Sardinian regional elections shows that there is an
alternative to the Premier Giorgia Meloni's nationally dominant
right-centre-right coalition.
"One thing is certain: there is an alternative," she told a pres
conference after the M5S's Alessandra Todde beat Paolo Truzzu
from Meloni's Brothers of Italy (FdI) party.
"As (party) secretary, one year on from the primaries, I
couldn't have hoped in a better reason to celebrate!
"It shows that the direction undertaken is the right one and
that being stubbornly united brings its fruits.
"We will also be so in view of other and equally important
challenges, because today we have shown that the Right can be
beaten".
