Two of Italy's biggest trade union
federations, CGIL and UIL, on Friday called a two-hour
nationwide strike to protest workplace accident deaths after a
supermarket building site collapse disaster killed three workers
and left two missing feared dead earlier in the day.
CGIL and UIL, together with the categories of construction and
metalworkers - Fillea-Cgil, Feneal-Uil, Fiom-Cgil and Uilm-Uil -
invited all other categories to plan mobilisation initiatives
and assemblies in workplaces on the same day.
They called the latest disaster "yet another unbearable tragedy
of death at work".
