Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala said Friday
he thought the postponement of pro-Palestinian marches in the
northern Italian city and other big cities around the country on
Holocaust Remembrance Day Saturday was inevitable after the
government asked organisers to think of putting them off.
Of the possible postponement of the pro-Palestinian
demonstration in Milan, Sala said "I spoke about it with the
prefect and he told me that he is in line with (Interior)
Minister (Matteo) Piantedosi and I can only accept this
decision.
"So I don't want to comment on it but I think it is inevitable
at this point, so it's a good thing".
"Tomorrow," Sala added, "will be a delicate day, so I can
understand the minister's reasons".
