The government is to present four
amendments to the 2024 budget bill covering four macro-areas:
security-defense, pensions in relation to the health sector,
local authorities and investments including the Messina bridge
project linking Sicily and Calabria, centre-right Forza Italia
Senate whip Maurizio Gasparri said on Wednesday.
These are "topics that the government has said it will address
in specific amendments that it will file in the coming hours,"
said Gasparri.
The bill is timetabled to come before the senate on December 18.
Unions have staged a number of strikes in protest over elements
of the 2024 budget.
On Tuesday doctors and nurses abstained from work across the
country in opposition to pension cuts outlines in the bill and
other provisions affecting health care services.
