The Court of Catania on Friday ruled against the detention of
five migrants in Pozzallo ordered by the police chief of Ragusa,
in the latest such ruling against the government's Cutro decree.
The measure was adopted by Judge Rosario Cuprì, the colleague of
Judge Iolanda Apostolico who had already issued two similar
orders for six Tunisians in recent days, spurring claims of bias
after her attendance at a 2018 pro-migrant rally was revealed in
a video posted by then anti-migrant interior minister Matteo
Salvini, now deputy premier and transport minister.
At present, sources said Friday, there are no other decrees to
be validated and there are no migrants present in the
pre-removal centre (CPR) of Pozzallo, another Sicilian port
town.
