Ruling rightwing Brothers of Italy
(FdI) MP Giovanni Donzelli on Wednesday accused centre-left
Denocratic Party (PD) MP Laura Boldrini of "creeping
anti-semitism" in allegedly legitimising funders of Palestinian
militant group Hamas, defending Palestinians and denying
Israel's right to defend itself after Saturday's attack by
Hamas.
"It's serious that MPs should give institutional legitimacy to
subjects that finance Hams," said the prominent member of
Premier Giorgia Meloni's party.
"At this time," he added amid protests from the opposition in
the House, "anyone who deems to deny Israel's right to exist and
defend itself, but continues to believe that all the other
peoples have this right except for Israel, leaves the doubt that
behind this defence of Palestine there is a new and creeping
antisemitism".
