Premier Giorgia Meloni is the "world
boomerang champion", centre-left opposition Democratic Party
(PD) leader Elly Schlein said in mocking the rightwing PM's
alleged U-turns on electoral promises on Italexit, an
anti-migrant naval blockade, cutting petrol duties and defending
workers on Monday.
"The premier, who professed the exit from the euro, the naval
blockade and the cut in excise duties on petrol, and the defence
of workers, to name but a few, has shown herself to be the world
champion of boomerangs that then come back to hit the country,"
she said.
Schlein said people on the southern island of Lampedusa,
grappling with a migrant emergency, needed "deeds" and not
"slogans".
