Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni
has invited European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen
to visit Lampedusa, which has been hit by chaos for several days
due to a huge wave of migrant-boat arrivals from North Africa,
sources said on Friday.
Von der Leyen has accepted the invitation and the leaders are
set to visit the island together "in the near future", the
sources said.
