Italy is to observe a day of national
mourning on Monday to coincide with the state funeral of the
former Christian Democrat premier Arnaldo Forlani, who died on
Thursday night aged 97, the government said on Friday.
National and European flags will also be flown at half-mast on
public buildings and on Italian diplomatic and consular missions
abroad from Saturday through Monday.
Forlani led the government between 1980 and 1981 and was
secretary of the Christian Democrats (Dc) from 1989 to 1992.
