Ukrainian President Volodymyr
Zelensky may pay a flying visit to Rome in the coming days to
meet Premier Giorgia Meloni as part of series of visits to EU
countries, several qualified international sources said on
Thursday.
The Italian executive has given no confirmation of the reports
so far.
Zelensky recently visited the Helsinki in Finland and The Hague
in the Netherlands and German media have reported that he will
be in Berlin in the next few days to meet Chancellor Olaf Scholz
and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
Vatican sources said Thursday that "it is possible that the pope
will meet the Ukrainian president on Saturday" when asked about
the reports of a Zelensky visit to Rome i.
The pope received Ukrainian Premier Denys Shmyhal two weeks ago
and had audience with Zelensky in February 2020, before the
Russian invasion.
The Vatican has said it is involved in a peace mission to try to
end the war in Ukraine, without disclosing details.
