Italy's big trade unions have
expressed dissatisfaction ahead of meeting on Sunday with
Premier Giorgio Meloni's government before the expected
approval of a package of labour measures on Monday - May Day.
The package is set to a cut to the labour-tax wedge for low
earners, among other measures.
In interview published in Sunday's edition of daily newspaper La
Stampa, Luigi Sbarra, the leader of the Cisl trade union, said
the government should change approach and open up to "serious
dialogue" with labour groups.
Maurizio Landini, the leader of the Cgil, Italy's biggest union,
expressed similar sentiments on Saturday.
"It's clear that being summoned on Sunday evening for talks on a
measure that has already decided on and which they will approve
on Monday morning is not what we have been asking for," he said.
