Italian Jews on Tuesday hailed
Premier Giorgia Meloni's condemnation of Fascist race laws in
her maiden confidence speech to the House.
In her speech, the rightwing Brothers of Italy (FdI) leader
called the laws drawn up by Benito Mussolini's regime the
"lowest point in Italian history".
The head of Rome's Jewish community, Ruth Dureghello, told ANSA:
"Premier Giorgia Meloni's speech was commendable and
significant. It is important to be united and unanimous in the
historic judgment of condemnation of Fascist ideology.
"And is is just as relevant and current the commitment against
anti-semitism which is dangerously growing and on which it is
necessary to keep our guard high".
