Francesco Lollobrigida, the Lower
House whip for Giorgia Meloni's right-wing Brothers of Italy
(FdI) party, said that the initial results from Sunday's
election suggest the centre-right coalition will be able to form
a government with a strong majority in parliament.
"We wanted to take power with the chance to be able to govern
and what emerges from the initial data is that the Italian
people have given us this opportunity," he said.
"Giorgia Meloni proved herself to be courageous, loyal and
serious when leading a constructive, patriotic opposition and I
think this is the line that we will continue to apply in
government.
"If confirmed, the figures give the centre right a large
majority.
"So we think that we can show the Italian people that we deserve
an experience in government".
