Antonio Tajani, the coordinator of
Silvio Berlusconi's Forza Italia (FI), told an ANSA Forum on
Monday that Italy will continue to follow the line of the EU and
NATO on backing Ukraine following the Russia invasion if the
centre-right coalition wins the September 25 general election.
"There will be no change in foreign policy," Tajani told the
Forum.
"The centre right is with NATO and with the West.
"FI is a guarantor at the European level and has great
competence in international politics".
Giorgia Meloni, the leader of the right-wing Brothers of Italy
(FdI) that is leading in the polls and who is favourite to be
Italy's next premier, has also said a centre-right government
would not break ranks with the Western stance on Ukraine.
Matteo Salvini, the leader of the right-wing League that is the
other main part of the centre-right alliance, has expressed
reservations about sanctions on Russia.
