League leader Matteo Salvini on Monday
reiterated his opposition to Italy sending more weapons to
Ukraine, adding that he would like to see peace talks between
Ukraine and Russia "in the Vatican".
"I hope that there is no need to vote (in parliament) on a new
dispatchment of weapons and that there is the desire to use
diplomacy," Salvini said.
The League leader also said that he could not see another broad
coalition government of national unity being formed, like the
current one led by Premier Mario Draghi, after next year's
general election.
"Governing with the PD (Democratic Party) and the M5S (5-Star
Movement), who spend all their time insulting the League, is not
easy," he said.
"It was our duty (to support the government) but this experience
is absolutely a one-off".
