Premier Mario Draghi said his
government was in office to take action, passing the reforms
required by the EU to get funding for Italy's post-COVID
National Recovery and Resilience Fund (NRRP), as he addressed
the congress of the CISL trade-union confederation on Thursday.
"I agree with the title you have given your congress - be there
for change," Draghi said amid tension within his ruling majority
over a competition bill linked to the reforms the EU wants in
exchange for its funding.
"It's a sentence that captures the sense of this government.
"We are here to do what Italy needs, not to stand still, and to
do it together with you," he said, adding that he hoped to
strengthen cooperation with Italy's unions.
