Premier Mario Draghi conferred by
phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky Monday and
reaffirmed the Italian government's firm support for the
Ukrainian people and authorities and Italy's full willingness to
contribute to international action to put en end to the war and
promote a lasting solution to the Ukraine crisis, the premier's
office said.
The G7 refused Russian President Vladimir Putin's demand to pay
for gas in roubles Monday, saying this showed his back was to
the wall, while the Kremlin again condemned US President Joe
Biden's remark that Putin cannot stay on as "alarming".
