Italy must show the same unity it did in the post-WWII reconstruction to get through the coronavirus crisis, President Sergio Mattarella said Tuesday.
Paying homage to the 335 victims of one of the Nazis' worst atrocities at the Ardeatine Caves outside Rome, on the 76th anniversary of the tragedy, the head of State said he "urged in this period marked by the grave health emergency the same unity that enabled the moral, civic, economic and social rebirth of the Nation in the years after WWII, with a push towards the values of respect for life and solidarity".
