Campania Governor Vincenzo De
Luca said Friday he would write to Premier Giuseppe Conte later
in the day to request autonomy for the southern region after
applications from the northern regions of Lombardy, Veneto and
Emilia Romagna.
"We asked to be linked to the discussion regarding Veneto,
Lombardy and Emilia a month ago," he said.
"We did not receive a reply and today we will formalise the
request for differentiated autonomy for Campania too according
to our line: defence of national unity, parity of conditions for
all Italian citizens, levels of services equal for all and
penalties and rewards for all those administrators who show they
are or are not able to administrate in a correct way".
Critics say the request by the three northern regions will
end national solidarity and create second-class citizens.
