Motorway company ANAS is ready
to reactivate its Messina bridge company "if and when the
government asks us to," ANAS President Gianni Vittorio Armani
told ANSA after Premier Matteo Renzi said the project would be
revived. Armani said the plan could go ahead again "especially
now that in December the Salerno-Reggio Calabria (motorway) will
be completed." He said "the project must be examined above all
in the light of the development of high-speed rail in the
Mezzogiorno towards Palermo and the narrowing of the
infrastructure gap in the south. But the important thing is
that, once it is decided what is to be done, there's n going
back this time. The country cannot afford it".
