Premier Matteo Renzi said Monday
that the date of the referendum on his government's
Constitutional reform to overhaul Italy's political machinery
will be set by the law, not his executive.
But he also said that the vote should take place by the
end of October - the month he had previously said it would be
held in.
"The times are set by the law," said Renzi, who has
pledged to quit if voters reject the package, when asked about
the possibility of the vote being delayed.
"The times of the referendum are not decided by the
government. It takes place 50 to days das (after the supreme
court calls it".
