Italian President Giorgio
Napolitano and Northern League leader Giorgio Napolitano on
Tuesday sparred over whether the anti-immigrant party could be
called xenophobic.
Napolitano called the League "the main expression of
xenophobic, nationalistic and now anti-European positions".
Salvini responded by saying Mapolitano should be "taken to
hospital".
"Napolitano should be taken to hospital, he doesn't know
what's he's saying any more. He's talking nonsense and I'm sorry
he's getting a stipend from the Italian State," Salvini said.
The League's parliamentary caucus leaders meanwhile said
the League was going to sue Napolitano, saying xenophobia meant
being afraid of others while "we aren't afraid of anyone, just
defending out people".
