Former civil protection chief
Guido Bertolaso left a meeting with Forza Italia (FI) leader
Silvio Berlusconi Tuesday saying the centre-right former premier
had given him his "unconditional support" as FI's Rome mayoral
candidate saying "I am the right person to lead Rome".
Berlusconi had been reported as thinking of pulling his support
from Bertolaso and switching it to the Northern League's
candidate, Brothers of Italy leader Georgia Meloni, amid polls
showing Bertolaso lagging far behind.
