(see related)Italy believes
NATO should be fully involved in guaranteeing security in the
Mediterranean while the migrant crisis is ongoing, Defence
Minister Roberta Pinotti said Wednesday after a meeting of NATO
defence ministers.
NATO gave Italy no support when asylum seekers fleeing war
and Islamic extremism in Africa and the Middle East first began
crossing the Mediterranean, the minister pointed out.
"We obviously think management (of security issues) should
be shared more," Pinotti said.
