Finance police on Wednesday issued
five house-arrest warrants on people suspected of vote-buying in
relation to Palermo municipal elections and Sicilian regional
elections in 2012. The people arrested, including two Sicilian
regional councillors, are accused of receiving or promising
money or favours in exchange for votes. The finance police
searched the Sicilian regional assembly and seized documents
from the budget commission chaired by Nino Dina, a councillor
for the centrist UDC party and one of the suspects.
