Former Northern League leader Umberto Bossi said on Monday that he would let Verona Mayor Flavio Tosi rejoin the party, if Tosi were to write to him.
"I'm the one who decides on expulsions. Write me to rejoin," Bossi claimed, calling the decision to eject the Verona mayor from the party "a blunder".
Tosi was ousted from the party on March 11 after a long dispute with party leader Matteo Salvini.
For his part, Tosi thanked Bossi but said, "the decision to kick me out was Salvini's, you have to tell him".
As party founder, Bossi holds the title of federal president for life, a position that is largely honorary.
