National anti-mafia prosecutor
Franco Roberti on Thursday called for more instruments to combat
terrorism including use of judicial police services to acquire
information that might then translate into criminal
investigations at local level.
"The national anti-mafia prosecutor has just acquired
competence for the centralised coordination of terrorism
investigations and we are monitoring all the investigations that
are currently underway through liaison magistrates in district
offices," Roberti said.
The national anti-mafia prosecutor added that he had called
for changes to the recent government anti-terrorism decree to
give him "more incisive powers" in relation to the coordination
and initiation of terrorism investigations akin to those already
in his possession to combat mafia crimes.
