Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala, Senate
Speaker Ignazio La Russa and Life Senator Liliana Segre will be
in royal box for the première of Giuseppe Verdi's Don Carlo at
Teatro La Scala on Thursday evening, and not in the stalls as
reported earlier.
The Holocaust survivor will be accompanied by her daughter
Federica Paci and they will be seated in the front row of the
royal box together with Sala, who is the president of the
prestigious Milan theatre, La Russa and their respective
partners.
Other prominent people due to attend the opening night conducted
by Riccardo Chailly are American singer-songwriter Patti Smith,
director of the Paris Opera Alexandre Neef, Deputy Premier and
Transport Minister Matteo Salvini, Culture Minister Gennaro
Sangiuliano, Chief of the Defence Staff Admiral Giuseppe Cavo
Dragone and Lombardy Governor Attilio Fontana.
The Prima (First night at La Scala) is a unique musical and
cultural event that takes place each year on December 7, the
feast day of Sant'Ambrogio, the patron saint of Milan.
