Perugino's 'Baptism of Christ', part
of a polyptych that was started and never completed for the
Church of Sant'Agostino in Perugia, will be on display in Milan
city hall for the traditional free Christmas exhibition from
December 5 to January 14.
The large panel painting will be on display in the Alessi room
in Palazzo Marino as part of an exhibit marking the 500th
anniversary of the Umbrian Renaissance master's death.
The masterpiece comes to Milan as a result of a collaboration
with the National Gallery of Umbria that has also seen a
substantial contribution by the city authorities to the
restoration of another work by Perugino, the 'Gonfalone della
giustizia' (Banner of Justice), which will be presented on
December 13 and 14 at an international study conference at the
gallery.
The exhibition at Palazzo Marino has been made possible thanks
to the contribution of Intesa Sanpaolo, a long-standing partner
of the initiative, and the support of Rinascente.
