Roman rockers Maneskin on Sunday
night won an American Music Award in the favourite rock song
category for their mega-hit Beggin'.
They beat off competition from Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili
Peppers, Imagine Dragons and Kate Bush.
The quarters - Damiano David, Ethan Torchio, Thomas Raggi and
Victoria De Angelis - accepted the prize in elegant jackets and
ties and suspenders in place of trousers.
Maneskin last week got their first ever Grammy nomination, as
best new artist.
The announcement for the February 3 ceremony comes amid a magic
moment for Damiano, Victoria, Thomas and Ethan who are in the
middle of a sold-out US tour.
The band's new album RUSH! is due out on January 20.
The Italian rock sensations hit the red carpet at the Cannes
Film Festival in May for the premiere of the Baz Lurhmann movie
on Elvis and his manager Colonel Tom Parker, for which they
perform the song If I Can Dream.
The Roman quartet, who have conquered America since winning
Eurovision last year and who appeared for the second time on the
Jimmy Fallon Show two nights before Cannes, went to Memphis to
soak up some of the King's vibes before arranging and singing
the track.
They were voted best group at last year's MTV Europe Music
Awards.
