"Expo Milano 2015 is very
important for the United Nations," U.N. Under-secretary for
communication and public information said Friday as she was
presented with a special number of 'Italian Excellence," an
official partner of the UN at the universal exposition starting
May 1.
The magazine, dedicated to the United Nations'
participation at the world fair, was created with the support of
Italy's Permanent Representation at the U.N. headquarters in New
York.
Italian Ambassador Sebastiano Cordi, Rome's permanent
representative to the United Nations, for his part said "From
May 1 to Oct. 31 Milan will be a global window where countries
will demonstrate the best of their technology that offers a
concrete response to a vital need -- to be able to guarantee
healthy, secure and sufficient food for all while respecting the
planet and its ecological balance."
"Italy is very proud of Expo," Cordi added.
"For the first time in the history of the universal
expositions this event has been preceded by a wide-ranging
debate involving the scientific community, civil society and
various institutions on the theme of Expo".
