The US Pavilion at the Milan
Expo on Friday invited entrepreneurs to participate in 'Feeding
the Accelerator', a programme for companies and investors aiming
to change the way food is produced, distributed, represented and
consumed.
The winning start-up team will gain the chance to cooperate
with world renowned food experts.
"As an entrepreneur, I spent the last decades in the Silicon
Valley, I understand the extent to which technology and
innovation can be crucial in responding to the challenge of
feeding 9 billion people by 2050" said Douglas T. Hickey,
General Commissioner for the US Pavilion.
"Our Accelerator will be essential to identify ideas and
people to help confront the problem" he added.
'Feeding the Accelerator' will feature workshops, seminars,
lessons and debates with speakers drawn from different sectors
of the food industry.
Microsoft is also cooperating with the programme which
intends to develop between 8 and 12 specific initiatives.
