The Coisp police union said Wednesday
that a run-down cruise ship that had been set to host thousands
of officers from Italy's various police forces while they
providing security for this week's G7 summit in Puglia was being
impounded because the conditions aboard were so bad.
Coisp Secretary Domenico Pianese said police had impounded the
Goddess of the Night liner docked in Brindisi, which was set to
host 2,500 officers, "because of numerous public complaints".
"It was in very poor sanitary conditions, with dirty and damaged
accommodation, unusable toilets, dilapidated showers, flooded
cabins," Pianese said.
Alternative accommodation is being arranged for the police.
