Schools must make sure the children
of immigrants know Italian, Education Minister Giuseppe
Valditara said Friday.
"We must intervene on the issue of school integration of foreign
pupils," he said, saying "30 per cent of foreign children have
dropped out, and 22 per cent have no Italian language skills."
"Schools will be obliged to ascertain the knowledge of the
Italian language for students of first generation immigration".
