A further 14 people have been
identified and reported for making Fascist salutes at the
commemoration of the 1978 Acca Larentia massacre in Rome in
early January, police sources said on Saturday.
The development takes to 19 the number of people placed under
investigation for apology of Fascism in relation to the episode
during the event outside the former headquarters of the
neo-Fascist Italian Social Movement (MSI) in Via Acca Larentia
to commemorate the death of three far-right youth militants.
The latest suspects include members of the militant far-right
Casapound from Avellino, Caserta, Naples and Forlì Cesena, who
were identified with the help of the local branches of the DIGOS
special security and political police unit.
Investigations are ongoing.
Members of the government led by Giorgia Meloni, whose
right-wing Brothers of Italy (FdI) party has its roots in MSI,
condemned the Fascist salutes, although Meloni herself has
failed to comment.
The centre-left opposition Democratic Party (PD) called for all
neo-fascist
organisations in Italy to be disbanded.
