A renewed bout of bad weather hit
several Italian regions on Saturday.
In Liguria there were wind gusts of up to 143 km/h while
maritime traffic was suspended in the port of Livorno in Tuscany
as a Libeccio wind reached over 50 knots, with waves over 4
metres.
There were over 300 fire brigade interventions in the Marche
region, for damage and disruption caused by strong winds.
Another 150 interventions took place in the Rimini area, where
there was a widespread alarm for fallen trees.
There was snow chaos in the Tyrol and South Tyrol which was
split in two, with 30 centimetres of snow at the Brenner Pass
and rain further south.
The inter-regional agency for the Po river launched an alert on
the rising waters in the rivers "in Emilia and in some cases in
Lombardy", in particular the Enza, a major tributary of Italy's
biggest river.
