Italy's oldest person, Urbino-born
life-long homemaker Domenica Ercolani, died in Pesaro in Marche
Friday at the age of 113, sources said Sunday.
Born in Marche cultural city Urbino on July 3 1910, she was
married to a railway station manager and never left the province
of Pesaro-Urbino.
Assisting her to the end was her 87-year-old daughter Alessandra
Rupalti.
Ercolani was noted for never having taken any medicine and never
suffering incapacitating illnesses.
Her doctor said "she had an exceptional physique".
The last of five children, she had two children.
Her life revolved around the home, waking up at seven, an
abundant breakfast, and then listening to Teleradio Padre Pio
for the rest of the day.
She never refused a glass of wine, combined with light meals.
Her door was always open to visits from people and she used to
say "you live better if you're good". And longer, too.
