A group of 59 migrants and refugees
arrived on Lampedusa on Tuesday in the first landing in several
days following a hiatus due to bad weather.
The new arrivals, who were rescued by a coast guard patrol, came
from Palestine, Syria, Pakistan and Egypt.
They travelled on an eight-metre boat that had departed from
Zuwara in Libya.
The Egyptians reportedly paid 160,000 Egyptian pounds and the
Syrians 4,000 euro for the crossing.
All were taken to the island hotspot in Contrada Imbriacola,
which was empty following the transfer off the island of the
last ten remaining unaccompanied minors on Monday.
