An 87-year-old pensioner has appealed
after a town near Bergamo banned bicycles from its cemetery
arguing that they "damaged decorum and safety" in the graveyard.
The man, Leonardo Colombo Giardinelli, is one of about 50
residents at Treviglio who have been using their bikes for years
to go and visit their loved ones' tombs and graves.
He has appealed to the regional administrative court (TAR) of
Lazio arguing that the ban infringes his ability to keep in
touch with his dear departed, including his late wife.
"I go there once a day during the week and twice at the weekend,
and I'd be lost without my bike," he said.
